Origin and history
The church of Saint-Pierre d'Oris-en-Rattier is a religious building located in the municipality of Isère. Built in the seventeenth century, it embodies the Christian architecture of this period, marked by a transition between late Gothic and classical styles. This monument, now labeled Heritage in Isère, bears witness to the importance of parish churches in the social and spiritual organization of the rural villages of the region.
In the 17th century, churches such as Oris-en-Rattier served as a central place for community life. They housed not only religious offices, but also public gatherings, reflecting the predominant role of the Catholic Church in structuring the territories. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, then marked by a rural and artisanal economy, saw these buildings as symbols of stability and continuity for local populations.
