Origin and history

The Town Hall of Craponne-sur-Arzon is a civil building built in the early twentieth century, more precisely in 1913. Located in the commune of Craponne-sur-Arzon, in Haute-Loire, it is distinguished by its neo-Gothic architecture, a bold stylistic choice for the period. This building was financed by Felix Allard, a local public works contractor, which highlights its roots in the economic and social history of the city.

The monument was listed as historic monuments by an order of 5 December 2016, thereby recognizing its heritage value. Its architectural style, both innovative and inspired by the medieval past, makes it a remarkable example of early 20th century eclecticism. The City Hall also embodies the central role of municipalities in community life, serving as both a place of political decision and a symbol of local identity.

The location of the Town Hall at 10 Boulevard Felix Allard recalls the close link between the monument and its patron. The latter, as an entrepreneur, helped shape not only this building, but also the urban landscape of Craponne-sur-Arzon.
