Origin and history

The remains of the Tower of None are a historical monument located in the department of Hautes-Pyrénées, in the Occitanie region. Built in the 15th century, this tower is distinguished by its rectangular plan and its materials typical of the region: bellows associated with stone angle chains. Its irregular slate cover, characteristic of the country, as well as its low monolithic lintel windows, supported by stone wallets, make it a rare example of this type of local architecture.

The tower was listed as a Historic Monument by order of 19 November 1942, protecting its remains. Although its exact use is not detailed in available sources, this type of construction often reflects the defensive or residential needs of rural communities at the time. Such towers sometimes served as a refuge, a surveillance post, or a symbol of power for local lords.

The location of the tower, in None in the Hautes-Pyrénées, suggests an integration into a landscape marked by agriculture and livestock, dominant activities of the region at this time.
