Door tympanum on which is engraved a figure of Virgin Assisi: classification by order of 25 January 1934

Origin and history

The Prieuré des Hautes-Bruyères is a historical monument located in the commune of Saint-Rémy-l'Honoré in Île-de-France. Although little detailed information is available on his history, he is known for his door tympanum, on which is engraved a figure of Virgin Assisi. This architectural element has been protected by an official classification since 1934, attesting to its heritage value.

Priories, such as the High-Bruyères, were often places of religious and community life in the Middle Ages and modern times. In the Paris region, these settlements played a central role in local life, whether through their spiritual influence, their management of agricultural land or their support for the surrounding populations. Their architecture generally reflected their function, mixing prayer spaces and utility buildings.
