Origin and history
The Pavillon de l'Arquebuse, located in Dole in the Jura department (39), is a monument built in the 1st quarter of the 18th century. It is distinguished by its architecture and its protected interior elements, including the large room on the first floor, decorated with remarkable woodwork. This building, owned by the municipality, has been classified as Historic Monument since 1971, with specific protection for its facades, roofs and the large hall.
The Pavillon de l'Arquebuse is located at the entrance of the Pasquier Promenade, at 89 Avenue de Lahr. Its classification in 1971 underlines its heritage importance, with an inscription for the large hall and its woodwork, and a classification for facades and roofs. The accuracy of its location is considered satisfactory, and it is now integrated into the urban landscape of Dole, the historic city of the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region.
At the time of its construction in the early eighteenth century, Dole was a city marked by its medieval past and its administrative role in the region. Pavilions and buildings of this type often served as meeting, representation or relaxation places for local elites. Their architecture reflected the classical influences of the time, with particular attention to interior details, such as woodwork, symbols of prestige and refinement.
