Origin and history
The Maison Fraisse is a house located in Conques-sur-Orbiel, in the department of Aude, in the Occitanie region. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, it has belonged to local notables and retains remarkable architectural elements, such as beams ceilings decorated with floral motifs and accolade doors.
The façade was redesigned in the 19th century, but the inner courtyard, accessible by a corridor from the main entrance, retains its niche well and overlayed wooden galleries. The staircase and galleries, also made of wood, serve apartments with some painted ceilings still visible. These decorations, dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, represent bouquets of stylized flowers (roses, tulips, blueberries).
Ranked a historic monument in 1948, the Fraisse house specifically protects its painted ceilings, accolade doors and well. Its architecture reflects the importance of notables in this region of Languedoc, where bourgeois houses mixed residential functions and symbols of social status.
The available coordinates place the monument at 106 rue de Conques-sur-Orbiel, although the accuracy of the location is considered poor (level 5/10). No information is provided on its current accessibility to the public or its contemporary uses (visits, accommodation).
