Origin and history
The houses Delpuech are vernacular houses located in the commune of Cros-de-Ronesque, in the department of Cantal, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Built in the first quarter of the 19th century, they represent a rare and well preserved example of traditional architecture of that time. Their state of conservation makes it a valuable testimony to the way of life and housing of this past period.
These houses were listed as historic monuments by order of 11 June 1990, thus recognizing their heritage value. Their architecture reflects the local techniques and materials used in the rural construction of the period, providing an authentic insight into the social and architectural history of the region.
As a historic monument, Delpuech houses illustrate a period when rural housing was adapted to local needs and resources. Their preservation allows us to study the constructive practices and lifestyles of the populations of Auvergne in the early 19th century, in a context where industrialization was beginning to transform the French countryside.
