Origin and history
The 2 dolmens de Laramière are megalithic monuments located in the municipality of Laramière, in the department of Lot (46), in the Occitanie region. These structures date from Neolithic, a period marked by the emergence of agriculture, sedentarization and the construction of collective graves. Their presence illustrates the funeral practices and beliefs of local prehistoric societies, which erected these buildings to house the deceased and probably honor their ancestors.
Classified under the Historical Monuments by order of 9 November 1984, these dolmens enjoy legal protection which underlines their heritage importance. Their location, although reported with an accuracy deemed "fair" (note of 5/10), remains a reference point for the study of ancient human occupation in this region. The dolmens, typical of the European megalithic landscape, also served as territorial and symbolic landmarks for neolithic communities, reflecting a complex social and spiritual organization.
