Origin and history

The farm "La petite Poland" is a historical monument located in Moncel-lès-Lunéville, south-east of Lunéville, on the edge of the Meurthe. Built in the 18th century on the grounds of the former Beaupré Abbey, it is inspired by Palladian architecture. Its plan is organized in three parts: two identical spans to the north and south, the dwelling at the front, and the sheepfold and stable at the rear. This compact building, whose main façade is the most remarkable element, has undergone changes related to its agricultural use.

Originally, this farm was a pleasure house built by Piroux, which named it in memory of his stay in Poland. The monument is now fully protected (with the exception of 20th century buildings), including its plated ground and basement, since its inscription by order of 9 October 2024.

The architect Charles-Auguste Piroux is identified as the master of this project. The location of the farm, although documented, is considered to be of poor accuracy (level 5 of 10).
