Origin and history
Menhir du Chenot de Médréac is a megalithic monument located in the commune of Médréac, Ille-et-Vilaine (Britagne). Dated from Neolithic, it belongs to a period when human societies raised erect stones, often associated with ritual or funeral functions. This type of monument illustrates the cultural and religious practices of the prehistoric communities of the region.
Ranked under the title of Historical Monuments by order of 18 September 1929, the Menhir du Chenot is a protected vestige, reflecting the importance attached to the preservation of the Breton archaeological heritage. Its location, although documented (GPS coordinates and approximate address: 5223 Le Chenot), remains of an accuracy considered satisfactory a priori according to the historical location criteria. The site does not seem open to specific tourist services such as guided tours or accommodation, but it is a point of interest for the study of Breton megaliths.
