Origin and history

The former Presbytery of Frocourt, located in the Oise (Hauts-de-France), dates from the 4th quarter of the 18th century, specifically from 1782, the year of its reconstruction. This monument has retained the majority of its original elements, including a wooden frame, a staircase with balusters, floors, torchi partitions and a traditional frame. It is one of the last presbyteries of the diocese of Beauvais erected before the French Revolution still intact and unaltered.

Ranked Historic Monument by order of 26 October 2000, the presbytery is now owned by the commune of Frocourt. Its architecture reflects the rural construction techniques of the period, blending wood and torchi, typical of church buildings modest in Picardia. The approximate location, noted as passable (level 5/10), corresponds to the address 9 Rue des Fêtes, although GPS coordinates remain imprecise.

This presbytery illustrates the local religious heritage before revolutionary upheavals. At the time, the presbyteries served as a lodging for priests and a parish management site, often built with local materials by local artisans. Their rare conservation today makes them privileged witnesses of rural and ecclesiastical life under the Old Regime.
