Origin and history

The former windmill of Parleboscq, located in the Landes department in New Aquitaine, dates from the 18th century. This tower-type mill, characteristic of the rural architecture of the period, illustrates traditional milling techniques. It was active until around 1920, marking nearly two centuries of local cereal production. Today, although its roof has been restored, it has lost its wings and its rotation tail, while its internal mechanisms, such as grinding wheels and gears, are deteriorated.

The ruins of the mill, inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 16 March 1977, testify to its heritage importance. The exact location, near the address 5001 F La Forge, remains approximate, with a cartographic accuracy considered fair (level 5/10). This monument provides an overview of the economic and social activities of the Landes before the 20th century, where windmills played a central role in the processing of cereals and community life.

The protection of ruins (Cadastre G 160) underlines the desire to preserve this industrial vestige, despite its partial state. Although the practical information on visits or associated services (rental, guest rooms) is not specified, its listing in the heritage makes it a site of historical interest to the region. Available sources, such as Monumentum, confirm its status as a Historic Monument, not to mention specific figures or events related to its construction or operation.
