Origin and history
The Saint-Martin church of Namps-au-Val is a Catholic building located in the hamlet of Namps-au-Val, in the commune of Namps-Maisonnil, in the department of the Somme (Hauts-de-France). Built in stone, it features hybrid architecture, combining elements of Romanesque and Gothic style. This stylistic mix reflects an architectural evolution over centuries, typical of the rural churches of the region.
Classified as historical monuments in 1846, the church houses several remarkable objects, listed in the inventory in 1979. Among them are graffiti dated 1476, a wooden statue of Saint John the Baptist of the 16th century, and a high altar and statues of the 18th and 19th centuries. These elements illustrate the heritage and artistic richness of the building, reflecting its importance in local religious life.
The church also preserves a statue attributed to the sculptor Ramboue (or Rambout), a collaborator of the Duthoit brothers, highlighting the links between this building and renowned regional craftsmen. Its early ranking in 1846, by list, attests to its historic and architectural value as early as the 19th century. The management of the building is now the responsibility of the municipality of Namps-Maisonil, which ensures its preservation.
