Origin and history
Saint-Aubin de Boëncourt Church is a parish church located in the commune of Béhen, in the Somme department, south of Abbeville. It is built mainly of stone and covered with slates, with brick foothills strengthening its structure. Its architecture includes a unique three-span nave, extended by a two-span choir with flat bedside. The bell tower, of quadrangular shape and covered with slate, overcomes the roof at the junction of the nave and the choir.
The building probably dates from the 16th century, although the exact date of its construction is not specified. It has been protected as historical monuments since 13 February 1998, when it was registered by order. This protection reflects its heritage and architectural importance in the Hauts-de-France region.
The church is dedicated to Saint Aubin, a Christian saint whose name is associated with several religious buildings in France. Its architectural style and materials reflect typical construction techniques from Picardia to the Renaissance. It is part of the religious and cultural landscape of the Somme, an area marked by a rich ecclesiastical heritage.
