Origin and history
The menhirs of the Star, called Men Bras ("great stone") and Men Bihan ("small stone"), are two megaliths located in the forest of Camors, near the hamlet of Lambel. They are about 500 meters apart, with Men Bras measuring 3.40 m high and Men Bihan about 1.70 m. These slightly inclined stones are surrounded by natural rocky blocks.
Ranked historic monuments on August 22, 1934, these menhirs testify to the archaeological importance of the region. Their precise location is documented: Men Bras is 250 m from the Star roundabout, while Men Bihan is further southwest. Their presence in the Morbihan is part of a wider set of Breton megalithic sites.
The menhirs of the Star illustrate prehistoric funeral or ritual practices, although their exact dating remains unknown. Their conservation and classification reflect the heritage interest in these remains, typical of Breton megalithism. The forest of Camors, their natural setting, adds to their mystery and historical appeal.
