Origin and history

Saint-Maixent de Sainte-Soline is a religious monument located in the commune of Sainte-Soline in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Although its existence is attested, the available sources do not specify the period of its construction or the architectural or historical details that might place its origin in time. In the New Aquitaine countryside, parish churches such as that of Sainte-Soline played a central role in community life.

They served not only as a place of worship, but also as a gathering point for the inhabitants, marking the social, agricultural and religious rhythms of the local population. These buildings often reflected the importance of Christianity in the organisation of rural villages and towns.
