Origin and history
The Church of the Trinity of Saint-Celerin is a religious building built between the 14th and 15th centuries, located in the municipality of Saint-Celerin, Sarthe. This monument, typical of late medieval architecture, reflects the stylistic and technical evolutions of this pivotal period between the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Its registration as a Historic Monument in 1984 reflects its heritage value and the desire to preserve this local heritage.
The location of the church, in the Sarthe department in the Pays de la Loire region, is part of a territory marked by a strong rural and religious history. At that time parish churches played a central role in community life, serving as places of worship, assembly and social organization. Their construction was often the result of collective efforts, reflecting the importance of village faith and solidarity. Saint-Célerin, like many villages in the region, developed around its church, symbol of its identity and historical anchor.
The building is now owned by the municipality of Saint-Célerin, which underlines its importance in the local heritage. Although the available sources do not specify its current state of opening or use, its listing in the inventory of Historic Monuments guarantees legal protection. The location data, although considered mediocre (level 5/10), nevertheless allow to locate the church at 4 Rue Principale, confirming its integration into the urban fabric of the village.
