Origin and history

The Saint-Samson church of Etreville, located in the village of the same name in Normandy, is a religious building whose origins date back to the 13th and 16th centuries. The most remarkable parts, such as the bell tower, the choir and its chapels, bear witness to these distinct periods of construction. These architectural elements, typical of Norman churches, were officially recognized and protected by an inscription under the Historical Monuments in 1961.

The location of the church, in the department of Eure (region Normandy), makes it a local heritage rooted in medieval and reborn history of the region. At these times, parish churches like Saint Samson played a central role in community life: a place of worship, but also of assembly and social organization. Their construction often reflected the importance of the village and the resources available, while serving as an identity marker for the inhabitants.

The building is now owned by the commune of Etreville, which highlights its anchoring in contemporary local life. Although the sources do not specify its current accessibility (visits, events), its status as a Historic Monument and the protection of its major architectural elements make it a notable heritage site. The accuracy of its location, assessed as "very satisfactory", enables it to be accurately located at 10 Rue des Libérateurs, confirming its integration into the village's urban fabric.
