Origin and history

The Dolmen du Rohello, located in Baden, Morbihan, England, is a megalithic monument dating from the Neolithic period. It consists of a dolmenic structure associated with a tumulus, typical of the collective burials of this period. The site was officially recognized and protected by an inscription under the Historic Monuments in July 2023, including the dolmen, its tumulus and the surrounding archaeological plot.

This type of monument illustrates funeral practices and beliefs of neolithic societies in Brittany. Dolmens generally served as collective burials, reflecting a complex social organization and concern for the beyond. Their construction, often collective, also demonstrates advanced technical know-how for the time, such as the transport and assembly of massive stones.

The Dolmen du Rohello is located precisely at the address 26 Route du Champ de la Mer, on the cadastal parcel ZB 5 of the commune of Baden. Its geographical location, although noted as fair (level 5/10) in the available sources, allows a clear identification of the site. Archived data also mention an archaeological reserve around the monument, highlighting its importance for research.

No information is provided on conditions of access to the public, possible guided tours or associated services such as guest rooms. The sources are limited to historical, legal (protection by decree of 2023) and geographical aspects, without details of its contemporary use or tourist use.
