Origin and history

The Hôtel de Largentière, located at 5 rue de Paris in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (Val-de-Marne), is a private hotel with foundations dating back to the 17th century, although its later façade was redesigned in 1733. This building was once adjacent to the Petit-Condé hotel, now destroyed. The family of Jean-Paul-François de Noailles, married to Gilbert du Motier de La Fayette via their daughter Adrienne, is associated with these architectural transformations of the 18th century. The name "Largentière", although present on some decorative elements such as windows bars, did not however have any solid historical attestation.

The facades and roof of the hotel were listed as historical monuments on 5 March 1971. Private property, the place is not open to the public, but it was used as a decor in 2015 for the filming of the film L The building illustrates the architectural evolution of private hotels in Île-de-France, mixing 16th century heritage and subsequent modifications, notably in the 18th century, with elements such as window supports and stair ramps.

The hotel includes, in addition to the main body, domestic housing and commons, typical of the aristocratic residences of the time. Its exact address, 5-7 rue de Paris, is referenced in the Mérimée database under the code Insee 94068. Although its GPS location is considered "passable" (note 5/10), it remains a marked example of the architectural heritage of Val-de-Marne, included in the list of historical monuments of this department.
