Origin and history
The Doulaincourt Bridge, located in the commune of Doulaincourt-Saucourt (Haute-Marne, Grand Est), was built during the last quarter of the eighteenth century. This historic monument illustrates the construction techniques of the period, with its five stone arches and apron on the back of the donkey. An estimate drawn up in 1789 by engineer Didier Perret attests to his initial design, while architectural details, such as almond fore-beeks and semicircular sterns, reflect precise know-how.
In 1820, an arch discharge culvert, designed in the same style as the 18th century arches, was added to strengthen the structure. This bridge, which spans the Rognon, was inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 13 May 1996. The protected elements include not only the main bridge, but also the adjacent culvert, both characteristic of civil engineering of their time.
The monument, owned by the Haute-Marne department, bears witness to the evolution of road infrastructure between the 18th and 19th centuries. Its architecture, combining robustness and aesthetics, makes it a remarkable example of the regional technical heritage. The location, although documented (approximate address: 9002 Avenue du Maréchal de Lattre Tassigny), remains to be specified according to available sources, with an average satisfaction rating (7/10).
