Origin and history
The Hotel de Cornwall is a monument located in Senlis, in the department of Oise (60), in the Hauts-de-France region. Built in the 16th century, it represents an example of civil architecture of this period, although its precise location (4 or 2 rue du Chat-Haret) is subject to nuances between the sources. Its facades and roofs were inscribed in the Historic Monuments by order of 27 March 1936, highlighting its heritage interest.
The building is part of the urban landscape of Senlis, a city marked by a rich medieval and reborn past. At that time, private hotels often served as residences for wealthy families or local notables, reflecting their social status. Their presence helped to structure the urban space, combining residential and sometimes administrative functions.
Senlis, close to Paris, then enjoyed a strategic position, promoting cultural and economic exchanges.
