Origin and history
Le Café-bourloire Le Carin, located in Wattrelos, Hauts-de-France, is an old dependence of the farm Delporte, transformed into a local museum. This 19th-century building has retained its rural character, with a white-painted brick façade and Flemish roof, typical of local architecture. Inside, the apparent frame reinforces its historical authenticity.
Listed as a Historic Monument by order of 19 April 2006, the café-bourloire is fully protected, including its facade on Rue du Carin. Originally linked to a farm, this site illustrates the social life and local traditions of the North in the 19th century. Its state of conservation and its conversion into a museum bear witness to the Flemish rural heritage.
The location of the monument, at 52 rue François-Mériaux, is specified in the Merimée base, with a satisfactory match between GPS coordinates and the historic address. This site, although modest, plays a role in valuing the industrial and agricultural heritage of the region, often marked by farms and community gathering places such as bourloires, convivial spaces and exchanges.
