Origin and history
The Corbillière Museum was founded in 1967 by a group of enthusiasts of the work of ceramicist Alexandre Bigot. This project aimed to bring together and preserve the creations of local artists from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with particular attention to ceramics and decorative arts. The museum has gradually enriched itself with various works, reflecting the artistic and artisanal heritage of the region.
The museum's collections cover a variety of themes, ranging from national archaeology to religious art, fine arts, decorative arts (ceramic, furniture) and ethnology (costumes, tools, habitat). An important part is dedicated to Art Nouveau ceramics, as well as art deco and neoclassical sculptures. These pieces are complemented by archaeological remains and objects related to local crafts, illustrating the cultural richness of the Sea and its surroundings.
Located in La Corbillière Park, the museum enjoys a natural and historical setting. It is labeled "Musée de France", which underlines its heritage importance. Despite an approximate geographical location (noted 5/10 for its accuracy), it remains a key place to discover local and regional history, including through photographs, paintings and exposed sculptures.
