Origin and history

Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul de Pers-Jussy Church is a Catholic religious building located in the Haute-Savoie department, in the heart of the village of Pers. Built around 1850, it replaces or succeeds previous structures, as evidenced by an inscription on the pediment of a lateral entrance dating from 1854. This place of worship is distinguished from the nearby church of Jussy, which is dedicated to Saint Anthony. The architecture and layout of the building reflect the religious practices and pastoral needs of the local community in the mid-19th century.

In 2004, on the occasion of its 150th anniversary, the church benefited from a major restoration aimed at preserving its architectural and artistic heritage. Among the notable elements, a Christ present in the building is mentioned as being able to date from the thirteenth century, although this attribution may be more recent. This piece, whether medieval or posterior, illustrates the historical and spiritual richness of the place, while highlighting the uncertainties that may surround the dating of ancient religious objects.

The church is part of the cultural and religious landscape of Haute-Savoie, a region marked by a strong Catholic tradition. Buildings like Saint Peter and Saint Paul played a central role in community life, serving not only as a place of prayer, but also as a gathering point for social and spiritual events. Their preservation, as in 2004, reflects the inhabitants' attachment to their local heritage and collective history.
