Pont de Roderie: inscription by order of 27 February 1926
Origin and history
The Roderie Bridge is a medieval building located in the commune of Aiguilhe in the Haute-Loire department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Built in the 14th century, it spans the Borne, a tributary of the Loire, and illustrates the construction techniques of the period in this rural and mountainous area.
The bridge was listed as historic monuments by order of 27 February 1926, recognizing its heritage value. Today, there remains a testimony of the medieval infrastructures of the region, although its precise location is estimated as "passible" according to available databases. Owned by the municipality, it is not clearly indicated whether it is open to visit or used for specific activities.
At the time of its construction, the fourteenth century was marked in Auvergne by a rural economy and local exchanges, where bridges played a crucial role in connecting villages and facilitating trade. Works such as Roderie's were often built to meet the needs of people and goods, in a context where river and land roads were essential to daily life.
