Origin and history

Prâlon's armorial terminal is a stone monument dating from the first half of the seventeenth century. It is located in the commune of Prâlon, in Côte-d'Or (Department 21), in the region Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. This type of building, often linked to the delimitation of territories or the signing of seigneurial rights, reflects the administrative and symbolic practices of the modern era.

Classified as a Historical Monument by decree of November 25, 1919, this pillar illustrates the importance attached to preserving the material remains of past centuries. Armored pillars were generally used to mark the boundaries of properties, jurisdictions or territories, thus playing a practical and emblematic role in the spatial and social organization of the rural communities of the Ancien Régime.

The location of the terminal, at 5064 Chemin de la Corveotte, is estimated with an accuracy considered fair (level 5/10). This monument, though modest in appearance, offers a concrete testimony to the stone-cutting techniques and symbolic uses of the era, while being part of the historical landscape of Burgundy-Franche-Comté.
