Origin and history
The Notre-Dame-du-Val de Noyers-Auzécourt chapel was built in 1874 in the Meuse, under the impulse of an industrial patronate. This place of worship was intended for the workers of a cheese factory, reflecting the importance of social initiatives related to rural industrialization of the time. Its architecture and vocation illustrate the role of local elites in the religious and moral supervision of workers.
Classified as a Historical Monument by order of 24 March 1999, the chapel embodies an industrial and religious heritage typical of Lorraine (now Great East). Its location, near a Roman way, suggests historical continuity in a territory marked by agricultural and artisanal activities. The building, though modest, bears witness to the economic and social dynamics of the second half of the 19th century.
The available sources (in particular Monumentum) highlight its status as a protected element (Cadastre B 236), but the details of its current use (visits, cults) remain partial. The accuracy of its location is considered passable (note 5/10), indicating margins of uncertainty about its exact location, despite an approximate address: 2bis Rue de la Voie Romaine.
