Origin and history

The Oratory Notre-Dame de l'Arcelette is a monument located in the municipality of Bessans. This type of building, often modest, served as a place of devotion or a stop for the faithful, sometimes marking a sacred path or space in the villages. The oratories, frequent in mountainous regions such as Savoy, reflected popular piety and community organization around faith.
