Origin and history
La Ferme de Saint-Mard, located in the commune of Vez (Oise, Hauts-de-France region), is a 16th century monument. This agricultural building is distinguished by its facades and roofs adorned with turrets, characteristic of the rural architecture of this period. Although little documented, its structure reflects the constructive techniques and economic needs of the time, where farms played a central role in the social and agricultural organization of the Picardy countryside.
Classified as a Historic Monument by order of 23 February 1951, the Ferme de Saint-Mard illustrates the heritage importance of rural buildings in the region. At that time, the Hauts-de-France (formerly Picardie) were marked by a predominantly agricultural economy, where farms served as poles of production and community life. The inscription of its architectural elements underlines their historical and aesthetic value, while at the same time demonstrating the desire to preserve this rural heritage.
