Origin and history

The Barn des Carrons is a building located in the commune of Saint-Cyr-sur-Menthon, in the department of Ain, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This monument, listed as historical monuments in 1925, is distinguished in particular by its sarrazine fireplace, an architectural element typical of certain French regions, which was specifically protected by this decree.

Barns of this type, frequent in rural areas such as Bresse, traditionally served as a storage place for crops and agricultural tools. They played a central role in the economic organization of villages, where agriculture was the dominant activity.
