A malouinière is a large marina built by Saint-Malo shipowners in the 17th and 18th centuries.
At least 17 are classified as historical monuments. But there are 112 in total, within a radius of 12 to 15 km around Saint-Malo.
Shipowners left the city's small space "intra-mural" for the comfort of a home where they could enjoy the pleasure of nature.
