Monument to the Deaths of War 14-18

33120 Arcachon

The monument to the dead of Arcachon, carved in 1924 by Alexandre Maspoli, is a 20th century pacifist memorial located in Place Verdun, Gironde. He pays tribute to the victims of the First World War with poignant symbols such as a Victory surrounded by faceless soldiers and weeping women, embodying the pain of arcachon families. This monument, classified as historical monuments in 2015, also reflects local activities through the figures of a resinier and an ostrianulist.
