Abbeys and Basilicas of France

An abbey church is simply the church of an abbey. The term basilica is an honorary title given by the pope to a church where many faithful come especially on pilgrimage.

For clarity, we separated them into 2 sub-categories:

  • Abbey

  • Basilica

NB: For regions that have not been regrouped, namely Brittany, Centre-Val-de-Loire, Corsica, Île-de-France, Pays-de-la-Loire, Provence-Alpes-Côte-D'azur, you must not go by the navigation opposite, but by the "classic" route below, to discover the subcategories of your department.
