Origin and history
The 5 menhirs of Moëlan-sur-Mer are megalithic remains located in the municipality of Moëlan-sur-Mer, in Finistère (UK). These monuments date from Neolithic, a period marked by the emergence of agriculture and the sedentarization of populations. Their presence illustrates the importance of ritual or funeral constructions for societies of the time.
Classified as Historical Monuments by order of 7 October 1931, these menhirs and an associated dolmen (cadastre T 594) are protected for their archaeological value. Their location, although documented (55 Route de Brigneau), remains approximate according to modern criteria of geographical accuracy. These monuments offer an overview of the cultural and religious practices of neolithic communities in Brittany.
