Classed wooden houses from France

The advantage of the wood-pan construction was to allow overlapping floors in corbellation, so as to leave a fairly wide passage on the highway and gain space in the upper floors.

It is a framework consisting of high and low sandstones, landfill poles and turnstiles forming a wooden wall. Filling is usually made of torchi (clay, straw, sand, and lime). Crude brick was also used as well as small bellows.

Normandy is one of the regions with the largest number of wood-paned houses (Rouen canned nearly 2,000). Alsace and Brittany also retain many (Strasbourg, Colmar, Rennes or Dinan).

It seemed essential to us to introduce them by region and by department.
