Origin and history

The house of Beloved Georges, located 50 rue Bourbonnoux in Bourges, dates from the 4th quarter of the 15th century (1494). It was built for Beloved Georges, hotel master of Jeanne de France and alderman of the city. The latter also supervised the construction of the convent of the Annonciade. The house, classified as a Historical Monument in 1928, preserves a fragment of Gothic facade decorated with arches, hooks, rods of thistle and flamboyant quadrilobes, typical of the style of the time. Two sculpted lamp asses of characters remain on the first floor.

The official protection relates specifically to the front on courtyard, including six fragments of stumb deposited. These architectural elements illustrate the influence of the flamboyant Gothic in the bourgeois habitat of the late Middle Ages. Beloved Georges, as an influential figure, embodies the link between municipal power and architectural patronage in Bourges, then a prosperous city under the impetus of the Valois.

The exact address (50 rue Bourbonnoux) and the ranking of 1928 underline the heritage importance of the site, despite a GPS location deemed "passable" (note 5/10). No information is available on its current access to the public, its tourist vocation or possible reuse (rent, guest rooms).
