Origin and history

Salinis College, located in Auch in Gers, has its origins in the Jesuit installation in 1582. The latter began the construction of a chapel from 1624, completed and consecrated on 31 July 1628. The building is distinguished by its adorned gate, its arched stand diaphragm, and a stone altar signed by architect Duran and marbrier Jean Bréaux. The plan, sober and classic, combines a unique nave, a flat bedside choir and shallow side chapels.

The chapel, the historic heart of the monument, is listed as historical monuments by ministerial decree of 30 May 1947. Originally a Jesuit college, the building became a high school before adopting its current status as a public college in 1971. Its architecture reflects both the Jesuits' educational ambitions in the 17th century and the subsequent transformations of teaching in France.

Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, highlight the heritage importance of the site, while specifying its current address at 3 bis rue Édouard-Lartet. The property, belonging to the municipality of Auch, retains protected elements such as the altarpiece and the gate, testimonies of southern baroque art. Localization, noted as "passible" in databases, invites a finer exploration of its local history.
