Origin and history
The Old Hotel-God of Doullens, classified as Historical Monument, consists of a central body and two wings in return of square. The main building and west wing, raised between 1848 and 1867, have three levels, while the east wing remains on one floor. The interior facades, made of brick with a harped link, reproduce a uniform style despite the late elevation. The exterior facades, mostly in stone, contrast with the last level of the west wing, built of brick.
The structure illustrates the architectural evolution of hospitals in the 19th century, with notable modifications such as the elevation of 1848-1867. The materials used – brick for indoor courtyards and stone for outdoors – reflect the local techniques and functional needs of the era. The monument, partially protected since 1986 (façades and roofs of the eighteenth century), bears witness to the hospital and urban history of Doullens.
Located on Rue d'Arras, its exact address (9001 Rue Jacques Mossion) and its Insee code (80253) clearly links it to the municipality of Doullens, in the department of the Somme. The accuracy of its location is estimated to be poor (note 5/10), but its listing as Historic Monuments in 1986 confirms its heritage importance. The facades and roofs, protected by arrest, are the most remarkable elements of this architectural ensemble.
