Origin and history
The Doyenné de Saint-Gatien hotel is an 18th-century mansion located in the Old Towers, at 17 Racine Street, Bazoche Street and Montaigne Street. It consists of a rectangular central building framed by two pavilions of the same height, with a large living room decorated with woodwork and illuminated by three windows. The pavilions house apartments connected by a corridor, while a vaulted chapel occupies the western pavilion.
The monument appears on archival plans dated between 1784 and 1788, and was awarded as national property in 1791. Its facades, roofs, large living room, l ́oratory and garden have been protected since 1946. The original entrance has disappeared, replaced by a modern construction, but the garden retains its original layout.
Private property, the hotel illustrates the civil architecture of the eighteenth century, combining classical elegance and residential functions. Its inscription in historical monuments underlines its heritage value, both for its interior decorations (woodworks, chapel) and for its original spatial organization.
