Origin and history
Hotel Naurissart is a private hotel located in the heart of Limoges, in the Haute-Vienne department, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. This monument, built in the fourth quarter of the eighteenth century, is distinguished by its inscription as historical monuments since May 5, 1947. Its detailed history, including its architectural characteristics, is accessible via its sheet in the Mérimée base, the official reference of the French heritage.
Although some sources evoke an origin dating back to the 16th century, the present hotel is clearly associated with the Enlightenment period. Its facade on courtyard, protected by decree of 16 May 1947, reveals notable architectural elements, such as a colonnade of ion order partially preserved. The building rises on the site of the old walls of the castle of Limoges, demolished from the 12th century, creating a marked elevation between the street and the garden.
The structure has a four-storey posterior façade, supplemented by a wing in return of three levels. The remains of the arches and pieddroits, as well as a cornice with denticles, illustrate the care taken in its design. The official address, 18 rue du Consulate, places this hotel in a historic area of Limoges, linked to the old administrative and judicial organization of the city.
The legal protections specifically concern the facade on the courtyard (castral DX 126), emphasizing its heritage importance. No information is available on its current use (visit, rental, etc.), but its status as a historical monument guarantees its preservation. Additional data, such as GPS coordinates or services offered, remain incomplete or approximate depending on the sources consulted (Wikipedia, Monumentum).
