Facade on the square and corresponding roof (see E 3455): inscription by order of 8 December 1969
Origin and history
The former Palais de Justice de Bailleul, located in the department of Nord (Hauts-de-France), dates from the second half of the 18th century. This building, now classified as a Historical Monument, is distinguished by its architecture representative of its time. It is located in 6 Place Plichon, in the heart of the city, and its facade on the square and the corresponding roof were protected by a registration order of 8 December 1969. The monument belongs to the commune of Bailleul, as evidenced by the archives of the Mérimée base.
The accuracy of its location is considered satisfactory (note 7/10), and photographs licensed under Creative Commons, such as those of Westhoekpedia, document its current appearance. Although available sources (Monumentum, internal data) do not detail its contemporary use, its status as a Historic Monument and its communal property suggest a heritage heritage still valued. No information is provided on any visits, room rentals or accommodation in its walls.
The Insee de Bailleul code (59043) confirms its anchoring in the North, a region marked by a rich administrative and judicial history. The absence of references to specific characters or events related to this palace in the sources limits the knowledge of its precise role in the eighteenth century. However, the courthouses of that period often embodied royal or local power, serving as a place of judgment and institutional representation for urban communities.
