Origin and history
The former priory of Parey-sous-Montfort found its origins in 1662, the date of its foundation. However, it was entirely rebuilt between 1744 and 1748, as evidenced by the date engraved on the church façade. This religious place, marked by an imperial roof bell tower, was home to sacristy panels and original furniture (stalls, altars) still present today. Conventual buildings, located to the south, were also erected during this period.
Sold as a national property in 1793 following the French Revolution, the priory was divided and divided between several owners. Despite this dispersion, some architectural elements remain, such as the wing of the religious, the porch and the junction body between these structures. These parts were protected by registration at Historic Monuments in 1997, highlighting their heritage value.
Today, the site consists of various properties: some parts belong to the commune, others to a cult association or private owners. The church and the convent remains recall the religious and community importance of this priory, once the heart of local life. The accuracy of its location, however, remains poor, with an approximate address located 72 Rue du Petit Gras.
