The remains of the old church, their plated grounds and their enclosures (C 133): inscription by order of 6 June 2012
Origin and history
The ancient church of Our Lady of Noguès de Lescure, dated the twelfth century, is a religious building today in ruins. It consists of a single nave enlarged in the 17th or 18th centuries, extended by an apse with cut strips. Its brick bell tower, of square base then hexagonal on two floors, preserves a dogive vault on the ground floor. The church was surrounded by a enclosure housing the cemetery, used until the beginning of the 20th century.
The monument functioned as a place of worship until the mid-19th century. Its remains, including the land and enclosures, were inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 6 June 2012. The property now belongs to the municipality of Lescure. The site, though partially in ruins, bears witness to medieval religious architecture and its evolution in modern times.
The location of the church, reported with an accuracy deemed "very satisfactory" (note 8/10), is located at approximate address 94 Nogues, 09420 Lescure, in the department of Ariège (Occitania region). Protected elements include the remains, their plated terrain and their enclosures, identified under cadastral reference C 133.
