Origin and history
The Aramon Bovine Arenas are an emblematic monument to the Tauromachi tradition of Bas Languedoc. Built in stone with a rectangular shape with rounded corners, they incorporate cement stands and a gallery called burladero for standing spectators. The presidency overlooks the toril, while four plane trees adorn the interior of the track, providing a unique atmosphere for this space dedicated to bull racing.
The ethnological value of the site lies in its connection with the bovin, a local cultural practice rooted in regional identity. The elements protected since 1993 include the terrain, the barriers to the runway, the structural structure (fencing wall, gate, buvette), as well as the plane trees, highlighting the heritage importance of this place both sporting and social.
Although the accuracy of the location is considered poor (note 5/10), the arenas remain a landmark in Aramon, Gard. Their management by the municipality and their potential openness to events or visits make it a living place, between Tauromachic heritage and contemporary use, in the heart of Occitanie.
