Origin and history
The AMI, based in Augerville-la-Rivière, was founded as a private initiative to safeguard a rare industrial heritage. For more than twenty years, Chantal and Jean-Paul Maury, a couple of printers, patiently gathered a unique collection of printing machines. Their objective went beyond mere material preservation: it was also about perpetuating the memory of the trades, techniques and know-how related to this sector, while affirming its contemporary dynamism.
The project has benefited from the support of many actors, starting with the Artegraf association, which brings together professionals and professionals. The latter, concerned with transmission and tradition, helped to give a collective dimension to the initiative. The State, through the Ministry of Culture and the DRAC, as well as local institutions such as the Region Centre-Val de Loire, the department of Loiret, and the municipality of Malesherbois, provided financial and technical support, recognizing the cultural, educational and tourist value of the project.
The AMI thus embodies a convergence of efforts between enthusiasts, professionals and public authorities to preserve an industrial heritage that is often unknown. The museum, labeled Musée de France, is part of a heritage and educational approach, offering a space where visitors can discover the evolution of printing techniques and their impact on society. Its official address, 70 Avenue du Général Patton in Le Malesherbois, and its website (a-mi.fr) make it an accessible and anchored place in its territory.
