Bastide House (annex of the town hall): by order of 8 June 1928
Origin and history
The house Bastide is a historic house located in the commune of Largentière, in Ardèche, region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Built in the 16th century, it is a typical example of Renaissance civil architecture in this region. Its location on the Grand'Rue, in the heart of the village, highlights its importance in the historic urban fabric of Largentière.
The house was classified as historical monuments by order of 8 June 1928, thereby recognizing its heritage value. Today, it is annexed to the town hall of Largentière and belongs to the municipality. Although its current use (visits, rental, accommodation) is not specified, its status as a protected monument makes it a key element of local heritage.
In the 16th century, Largentière, like many cities in the region, was marked by a rural and artisanal economy. Bourgeois houses, such as Bastide House, often served as residences for local notables or merchants, reflecting their social status. These buildings also played a role in community life, sometimes hosting administrative or commercial activities essential to the life of the village.
