Origin and history
La Commanderie de Soulomès, located in the Lot department in the Occitanie region, is a 13th century historical monument. This site, composed of several buildings, has been fully registered as a Historic Monument since a decree of 8 June 2022. It is associated with a church and a presbytery, emphasizing its religious and community importance in medieval times.
The buildings of La Commanderie are located on plots 51 and 800, section A, and today belong to the commune of Soulomès. Although the accuracy of its location is considered to be very inadequate (note 1/10), the available data indicate an approximate address near Caniac-du-Causse. This type of commandary, typical of the Middle Ages, often served as a place of life and management for religious or military orders, playing a central role in the local organization.
The site is fully protected, as specified in the 2022 registration order. Available sources, including Monumentum, also mention a possible opening to the public, without specifying whether visits, room rentals or guest rooms are offered.
