Origin and history
La Ferme Paradis la Montjoie de Montferrat is a farm located in Blavozy, in the Haute-Loire department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It was built at the site of an old inn that welcomed pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela or Puy-en-Velay. This site, marked by a long tradition of hospitality, illustrates the importance of medieval and modern pilgrimage routes in this region.
The main house of the farm dates from the 17th century, while the additional buildings (common) were added in the 18th and 19th centuries. The architecture, typical of the Meygal, uses local materials and preserves original elements such as the pebbles of the courtyard, the well, the drinking pot and a kitchen equipped with a swivel potence to draw water from two stone reserves. These details reflect the region's traditional farming and domestic practices.
Classified as a historic monument since October 11, 2004, the farm is fully protected, including its exterior and interior features. This status underlines its heritage value, both for its history linked to pilgrimages and for its preserved vernacular architecture. The farm thus bears witness to the evolution of rural lifestyles between the 17th and 19th centuries in the Haute-Loire.
