Origin and history
The Bourguignon Museum Perrin de Puycousin was founded in 1929 from the ethnographic collections of Maurice Perrin de Puycousin, a local collector active in the late 19th century. These collections, focused on costumes, housing, furniture, trades and traditional tools, have allowed to reconstruct rural and artisanal interiors typical of Burgundy. The museum is housed in an old house dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, given to the city by Albert Thibaudet.
The museum offers a coherent vision of Burgundy life at the time of its peak, highlighting various themes such as ethnology and local history. It is labeled "Musée de France" and is distinguished by the precision of its reconstructions, which reflect the material and social aspects of the region. Although located in Tournus, its name is also associated with another museum in Dijon, highlighting the importance of the collections of Perrin de Puycousin.
Available information indicates that the museum is located at 21 rue de l'Hôpital in Tournus, in the department of Saône-et-Loire, in the region Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The accuracy of its geographical location is considered fair, and it remains a valuable testimony of the Burgundy traditions and know-how of past centuries.
